Mission Statement

Our mission is to protect public health and safety and the environment by ensuring a coordinated, efficient and effective response to significant oil and chemical incidents within Federal Region III.

We accomplish this by:

providing advice and assistance to Federal On Scene Coordinators (FOSCs), Area Committees and Unified Commands.
assisting Area Committees and State Emergency Response Commissions (SERCs) in the development of their contingency plan.
providing training, information, communication and coordination mechanisms to FOSCs, Unified Commands, and Area Committees.
coordinating the acquisition of resources to add value to the response of FOSCs and Unified Commands.

evaluating the response of FOSCs and Unified Commands.

providing a conduit to ensure timely and effective planning and information flow between the NRT and Area Committees, Unified Commands, and FOSCs.
assisting other agencies and organizations in development and implementation of contingency plans for natural and man-made disasters.
